The government’s decision to reduce taxes on imported vehicles by 50% has been due to a plan to import 500 Benz cars by a young parliamentarian in the Rajapaksa family.

These vehicles are expected to be sold to the Indian super starts, who would arrive in the country to attend the IIFA awards.

It is learnt to be the result of an agreement reached between the restive Rajapaksa and the Indian stars.

Since India has slapped 700% taxes on imported vehicles, these vehicles imported by the Rajapaksa are to be taken back by the Indian stars claiming to be gifts received while in Sri Lanka.

Sources from Sri Lanka Customs say that the large number of vehicles that have been cleared from the Port since June 2nd are all part of this large scale contract.
