The appointment of the expert committee to advise him on human rights violations in Sri Lanka has not been delayed due to pressure from Sri Lanka government or any other sources says Secretary General of United Nation Organization Ban Ki-Moon. He said measures to appoint the committee have been already taken. Moon said this at the press conference held after having discussions with Foreign Minister G.L. Peiris.

The Secretary General says he emphasized three points at the discussion with the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister. He said Foreign Minister’s attention was drawn to developing living standards of internally displaced, expediting the process to get them back to the society and strengthening national unity.

The Secretary General has said he and the UN wereattentive regarding Sri Lanka and had said after completing military confrontations Sri Lanka should be more responsible regarding defending human rights.
