Basil appoints special unit to keep a close watch on Namal

Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa has appointed a special unit to keep a close watch on the functions of UPFA parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa and his Nil Balakaya.

Head of the State Timber Corporation Siripala Ameraisnghe and Divaina journalist Manoj Abeydheera have reportedly been appointed as the heads of this special unit.

The duo have been tasked to find details about Namal’s functions and the work carried out by the Nil Balakaya and to report them personally to Basil.

  Although Manoj Abeydheera played a key role in Namal’s Tharunyata Hetak organization and was close to him at one point, he was removed from the organization due to allegedly misappropriating the organization’s funds.
