Special unit to assassinate underworld leaders who helped during elections

A special unit has been established under the guise of suppressing the underworld to assassinate 170 persons who have helped governing party politicians during the general elections.

The unit it is learnt has been established under the leadership of a key figure in the defence establishment following a request made by several government ministers.

The request had been made following the pressure from various underworld figures on ministers to grant various favors requested by them for the services provided and contracts carried out during elections.

  The special unit comprises of several selected police officers. It has also been revealed that up on hearing of this plan, several other politicians are currently engaged in getting underworld leaders affiliated to them out of the country.

According to CID sources, one Ice Manju, who is the main suspect in the killing of one of the Intelligence Unit heads Colonel Meedin, is also among the underworld figures that are in the list to go overseas. It is learnt that a governing party member of the Eastern Provincial Council is playing a key role in trying to get Ice Manju out of the country.
