Wimal loses the ‘crown’

The Commissioner of Elections Dayananda Dishanayake says he would take stringent measures to prevent nationally important symbols becoming symbols of political parties. The Commissioner says he had informed NFF, Mr. Wimal Weerawansa’s party, to give up ‘crown’ and select some other symbol. According to the Commissioner NFF has informed his office that they would select a new symbol.

 

The Commissioner of Elections said he expected to amend the electoral lists adding that voters in the Northern Province would be re-registered and electoral lists prepared accordingly.
