President reprimands Minister C.B.

The President had summoned Sports Minister C.B. Ratnayake to Temple Trees yesterday (2) and had requested him not to put him in trouble when making statements.

The Minister recently told the media that Sri Lanka Cricket was one of the most corrupt institutions in the country third only to the education and police departments.

The President had ordered Ratnayake yesterday to reappoint the officials whom he had slammed through his statement back to the Sri Lanka Cricket Interim Committee.

  The Minister therefore was compelled to reappoint D.S. De Silva as the head of the Interim Committee and Nishantha Ranatunge as its Secretary.

Asanka Seneviratne had been appointed to the Interim Committee following a recommendation made by Namal Rajapaksa. Seneviratne was once Namal’s rugby coach.
