President Absent At IIFA Night – Irate At Bollywood Stars For Dumping His Brunch
President Mahinda Rajapaksa who was scheduled to participat as the chief guest at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards’ gala night at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium yesterday kept away from it.
The first lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa and Namal Rajapaksa were present at last night’s show, but they had left early reports media. No formal reason was given for the President’s non-appearance despite officials of PSD being present at the venue the previous night.
President’s decision not to participate had not been informed until the last minute which inconvenienced the organizers of the festival. According to a very reliable source the President had not participated at the ‘Awards night’ celebration due to absence of many Indian stars at the brunch he hosted for them at “Temple Trees” yesterday at 11.00 a.m. The President, who had expected to pose for photographs with Bollywood stars, had been very disappointed when they failed to turn up at Temple Trees. Only a few actors and actresses who are unknown even in India had participated at President’s brunch, only exception being Anil Kapoor.
It is reported that the President angry over the failure of the Bollywood stars to appear at his brunch decided to keep away from the evening gala.
