The Maha Sangha is reportedly unhappy with the shortcomings in the stamp that was launched to commemorate the Wesak celebrations this year.

The state Wesak festival was held at the Mahiyangana Rajamaha Vihara this year and the Wesak stamp was reportedly designed based on the temple.

The dageba and it environs have been altered in the stamp. The stamp it is learnt is now being taken away from the Postal Department as soon as the alterations have come to light. There is also a rumor that authorities have also ordered that the stamp, which was printed at a cost of over Rs. 10 lakhs, should not be released to the general public.
