Ranil’s powers to be curtailed

UNP reforms committee has suggested scraping the authority party leader Ranil Wickramasingha has in appointing almost all members of the working committee, UNP MP and party spokesman Gayantha Karunatilleke said.

Karunatilleke told reporters the reforms committee had also recommended limiting the working committee members to 86 where 66 members would be from various associations affiliated to the party while the remaining 20 members will be appointed by the party leader.
