General Sarath Fonseka Nominated For The Commonwealth Summit In Kenya

The Summit of Commonwealth countries is due to be held in Kenya in September this year. The Select Committee was convened yesterday within the Parliamentary Complex headed by the Speaker to nominate the representatives for this Summit.

 

 

 

At this meeting it has nominated two Members of Parliament from the Government and two MPs from the Opposition. On behalf of the Opposition, the United National Party’s MP Mr Earl Gunasekaraand the Democratic National Alliance’s MP General SarathFonseka’s names have been proposed. These names have been approved by the Speaker and consequently General SarathFonseka is due to visit Kenya in September.

 

General SarathFonseka who is detained by the Army attends Parliament sessions accompanied by the Army security personnel. 

Many analysts are waiting attentively on the procedure that will be followed when a Member of Parliament who is under arrest has to go abroad
