UNP To Take Legal Action Against Constitutional Amendments

Legal action would be taken against the proposed constitutional reforms by the government states the UNP. UNP Media Spokesman Parliamentarian Gayantha Karunatilake, addressing a press conference yesterday (21st), said the government had no right whatsoever to amend the Constitution by keeping the entire country in the dark.

 

Mr. Karunatileke said lawyers of the UNP are studying the possibility of taking legal action and a campaign would be launched to oppose the attempt by the government to increase the number of times one could seek election for the presidency.
