Wimal sacks one of Rajitha’s supporters

Housing, Construction and Engineering Services Minister Wimal Weerawansa has sacked one of former Engineering Services Minister Rajitha Senaratne’s close supporters. The person sacked it is learnt is the deputy general manager of the electrical and mechanical division of the State Engineering Corporation.

The termination of services has been due to alleged corruption that had taken place amounting millions of rupees in renovating the lights at the Keththarama Stadium. The State Engineering Corporation has been assigned the task of carrying out renovations on the Keththarama and Pallekela Stadiums in  preparation of the 2011 Cricket World Cup.

The alleged corruption had taken place when selecting tenders for lighting system at the Keththarama Stadium.
