More military items uncovered in clearing operations

Sri Lanka Army troops continued clearing operations have uncovered more LTTE military hardware hidden in Vavuniya, Mannar, Kilinochchi and Mullaittivu districts yesterday (13 May), military sources said.

 

 

Troops of 61 Division, while conducting search and clear operations at general areas Mallawarayankaddaiadmpan, Periyathampanai, Kanagarayankulam, Nochchikulam and Kovilpuliyankulam in Vavuniya district recovered 87 x Anti personnel (AP) mines.

 

Further, troops belong to Area Headquarters in Mannar recovered 23 x anti personnel (AP) mines during clearing operations conducted at Illupukadavai and Alankulam.

 

Separately, 57 division troops operating at general area Akkarayankulam in Kilinochchi district recovered 03 x Improvised trappings during a search and clear operation conducted. 04 x Anti personnel (AP) mines were recovered by Task Force 3 troops during a clearing operation conducted at general area Alavedduvan.

 

Meanwhile, an anti personnel mine was uncovered by the 59 Division troops during a clearing operation conducted at Kumulamunai area in Mullaittivu district on same day (13 May) sources further added.
